Tower of Dawn: Nesryn and Chaol

I’m rereading Queen of Shadows and I just… God, okay, I’m just really happy that **SPOILER**

Chaol and Nesryn didn’t end up together. I was a huge Chaol/Celaena shipper ever since Throne of Glass, so when Nesryn first appeared I was a bit salty. I ended up really enjoying her character though. But one thing I never liked was how Chaol acted around her. I didn’t like Chaol’s attitude AT ALL in Queen of Shadows (nor did I like Aelin’s, they were just so shitty to one another) and I thought Maas had butchered his character in order for us to feel more kindly towards Rowan. In truth, Mass was just accurately portraying how depression and terrible circumstances can effect people, change them. Which was why I was so grateful for Tower of Dawn- I loved Chaol. Even shitty Chaol. I didn’t want to see him butchered and cast as the cliche shitty ex. I’m glad Maas did better by him.
But Nesryn and Chaol never harmonized for me. I went into Tower of Dawn hoping Maas would pull her magic and make me love them together. I was sure they were endgame because it was so obvious Nesryn cared about Chaol– but his feelings for her were so… muted.
I’m so grateful he got with Yrene instead. Nesryn deserved more than Chaol could give her and Chaol deserved more than a forced romance with someone he didn’t truly love.
I’m glad Maas didn’t try to force it. I’m glad she gave Chaol someone just as overwhelming as Celaena in such a different way.
And that she gave someone to Nesryn who looked at her the way so many people looked at Celaena.

Aelin was referred to as “princess”

“He hauled the princess upright, her body a distant, aching thing.” (Page 660)

“A princess of nothing. Nameless.”

“The princess sang to the darkness….”

What did we learn in this book?

•Maeve is Valg queen

•there are valg princesses and princes

Now that we know this, literally it’s an end. Meaning, Maeve would probably most likely make Aelin valg. How could she not. If she is in control of all of that dark power and has the power to do that to her enemy in her weakest state, why would she not?

Aelin would not obey or listen to Maeve no matter what. Unless a valg takes over her body. Aelin would be a perfect host for such a dark thing and Maeve would have her in her palm.

Anyway, back to the princess thing.

Why refer to Aelin as princess? It is MORE than common knowledge that Aelin is Queen no matter if they like it or not.

Could the book be saying princess because her body has been taken over by a princess valg? Or what?

Even if Aelin is not possessed by a valg, I feel like she will be. Why would Maeve pass up that chance.

ALSO-

“She did not want to slide back into this body. Struggled against it,…” (page 660)

This could mean she did not want to slide back into the pain from her unconscious state (I believe that’s it) but is there a small chance she could be talking about how her body is taken over by someone/something else and she did not want it back?

I know this is a far fetch. I’m aware. I finished this book at 1 am and I’m already going crazy with my thoughts and theories.

Okay, so ever since Eos I’ve been thinking. About Elide. So let’s backtrack for a second to QoS when Manon told Elide that witches only gain access to their magic on their first bleeding(first period)? Now, Remember in Empire of Sobbing(oops, I meant ‘Storms’) when Elide got her period, and she said it was heavier than any period she’d ever gotten before? In fact, she said that all her periods before had been very spotty, and her nursery maid was always surprised at how light they were. Well, Elide wouldn’t have gotten her first period before magic vanished, she was too young, and Manon even said that the witches who hadn’t had their period before magic disappeared hadn’t even experienced magic. But now magic is back and Elide’s period is heavier than it ever was when magic was gone. Do you think this means anything about Elide’s witch heritage? Could she get some magic/witch powers? But Manon also said that witches can sacrifice themselves to create enough magic to damage the opposing armies. What if Elide sacrifices herself?
